Judging Criteria and Age Divisions

      We will award 16 prestigious AWOS and YAWOS

                        and International Titles:

    YAWOS Divisions

​

  • Little Princess-Age 2-3

  • Young Princess - Ages 4-6

  • Elementary Princess - Ages 7-9

  •  Preteen - Ages 10-12

  • Young Teen - Ages 13-15

  • Teen  - Ages 16-19

  • Miss - Ages 20-25, single, never married, or has any children​

  • Young International Women of Service - 

 

AWOS Divisions 

​

  • Sweetheart - Ages 18-29, any marital status

  • Ms. - Ages 30 +, any marital status

  • Mrs.   -Age 18+, Married

  • Elite - Ages 35-49, any marital status

  • Classic - Ages 50-59, any marital status

  • Senior-Ages 60+, any marital status

  • International Women of Service

  • Ambassador

Competition ages are as of January 1 of the International Pageant year. 2024

​

Each contestant will compete in four areas of competition for the divisional titles.

​

  • Personal Interview - A panel-style interview designed to allow the judges to better get to know the delegates. This phase of the competition will account for 40% of the overall score.

  • Out on the Town Fashion (women) Fun Fashion (young divisions)- Contestants are asked to select an outfit that best exudes their personality that they would wear "Out on the Town" or "Fun."  Judges will be looking for overall confidence and how the outfit compliments the delegate. This phase of the competition will account for 20% of the overall score. YAWOS is 30% 

  • Evening Gown - Contestants are asked to select a full-length evening gown of choice, and the AWOS division finalists will answer an onstage question. Questions will be selected by the judges from questions asked during the interview. Evening gowns will be scored on question response, poise, and overall confidence. This phase of the competition will account for 30% of the overall score.

  • Optional Competitions - AWOS Contestants are asked to enter at least one optional competition that will account for 10% of the overall score. Contestants may wish to participate in multiple/all optional competitions, which will result in the highest optional score incorporated into the overall score.

  • YAWOS contestants do not have to compete in an optional ​

    Photogenic: Contestants submit one 8x10 photo or photo collage of up to 3 images to be reviewed by the judge's panel.
    • Role Model: Contestants submit a community service portfolio containing images, community service hour log, letters of recommendation, and/or description of leadership roles for review by the judges' panel.

    • Personal Platform Presentation: Contestants submit a creative video, no longer than 1 minute, about their personal platform for review by the judges' panel.

    • Publishers Writing: Contestants submit an essay style writing between 500 and 1000 words about positive pageantry (any area or relation to) for review by the judges.

    • Non-performance Talent: Contestants submit evidence of their talent via photographs or video for review by the judges.

    • Talent: Contestants may perform a 2-minute talent on stage for the judges.

    • Americana Heritage Wear: Contestants may choose to model an "Americana" themed outfit for the judges on stage.

    • Fitness and Lifestyle: AWOS: Contestants choose a fitness outfit that best compliments them and projects their confidence. Contestants will walk the stage and present a 15-second speech about how fitness, confidence, and beauty relate to them. YAWOS: fitness outfit, age-appropriate no speech. 

    • Speech: Contestants will present a 2-minute speech of choice to the judges live during the optional competition. Both Divisions

  • AWOS Contestants may choose to compete in a second division that fits their respective age for an additional fee of $300.

The International Pageant will be held at the Double Tree by Hilton in South Portland, ME  

July 8-11 for AWOS and July 11-14, 2024 for YAWOS
